How to Use Airsoft Parts on Nerf Recons

If you enjoy shooting airsoft guns but prefer the styling of the more imaginative Nerf guns, the solution could be to modify your Nerf gun to shoot airsoft pellets. One of the best candidates for such a modification is a Nerf recon gun. A few simple materials can get you into the airsoft action in a short time.

Things You'll Need

  • Craft knife
  • Scissors
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Electrical tape
  • Plastic ball point pens
  • Nerf recon
  • Airsoft pellets

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the caps, tips, ink cartridges and other parts from three plastic pens using the craft knife and pliers. All you need is the three hollow plastic tubes and one plastic tip.

    • 2

Line up the three tubes and tape them together with the electrical tape. Make sure the tubes are straight and the seals are tight. This is going to be your airsoft barrel.

    • 3

Widen the hole on the plastic tip by using the craft knife to cut away the plastic. Make the hole wide enough to let in the maximum amount of air without being wide enough that an airsoft pellet could fall through it.

    • 4

Tape the modified tip onto one end of the taped barrel.

    • 5

Wrap tape around the end of the barrel with the modified tip until the barrel end is about as wide as a Nerf dart. Repeat at two other points along the barrel, no closer than 3 inches from the other barrel end. This will help hold your new barrel in place. Optionally, you can add one more layer of tape along the whole barrel length for extra strength.

    • 6

Push the end of the barrel with the modified tip into the barrel of the Nerf gun, as far down as you can.

    • 7

Cock the gun and load an airsoft pellet by dropping it down the front of your modified barrel. Aim and fire.
