How to Do Pogo Stick Tricks

At first glance, a pogo stick seems like a simple toy. However, with practice and dedication, you can turn your pogo stick from a simple jumping machine to a piece of high-flying stunt equipment. Pogo stick tricks range from incredibly difficult to relatively simple and all carry an inherent risk of injury --- it is important to wear a helmet and pads when attempting any new tricks. If you are comfortable with the basics of bouncing on a pogo stick, you are ready to try some tricks.

Instructions

    • 1

Squeeze the pogo stick between your thighs while bouncing. Once the stick is secure, take your hands off the handlebars to perform a no-handed bounce.

    • 2

Hold the center of the handlebars with one hand and raise your other hand in the air. This move makes you look like a cowboy riding a bull.

    • 3

Hold the pogo stick behind your back and step onto it heel first. From here, you can attempt to bounce on the stick backwards.

    • 4

Shift your weight to one foot and lift the other foot off the pegs for a one-footed bounce. This is far less stable than traditional bouncing.

    • 5

Bounce on the stick a few times to build momentum, and then bounce as high into the air as you can. While in the air, remove your feet from the pegs and kick them out. Get your feet back on the pegs before the stick hits the ground.

    • 6

Twist your body as your pogo stick hits the ground. You and the stick will rotate as you rise into the air. Practice completing 180, 360 and 720-degree turns.

    • 7

Lift your knee and place it over the handlebars of the pogo stick, in between your hands. You can bounce with one leg up.
