Easy to Make Water Shooters

If you're a kid, there's nothing on the planet more fun than water shooters, particularly if there's a major water battle on a hot summer's day. If you're a parent, there's nothing more aggravating than plunking down the cash time and time again to replace lost or broken water shooters. The logical solution for keeping everyone satisfied is to make your own simple water squirters. You can make these quick and easily by repurposing common household materials that you would have otherwise thrown out.

Things You'll Need

  • Empty plastic water bottles
  • Ice pick
  • Strong scissors

Instructions

  1. Easy Water Shooters for Big Kids

    • 1

Remove the plastic cap from an empty plastic water bottle, and set the cap aside. A narrow plastic ring from the bottom of the cap will remain on the neck of the bottle.

    • 2

Clip the narrow ring from the bottle neck off with strong scissors. Discard the ring and set the water bottle aside.

    • 3

Remove the sprayer from an empty plastic spray bottle. Fill the bottle halfway with warm water and add a few drops of liquid dish soap. Replace the sprayer in the bottle and tighten the cap. Hold it over the sink and pump about 10 squirts of the soapy water into the sink. This will wash the sprayer clean of any residues.

    • 4

Empty the spray bottle and rinse it well. Fill it about halfway with warm water, replace the sprayer and tighten the cap. Pump about 10 squirts of clean water into the sink to rinse the sprayer thoroughly, then empty the bottle. Remove the sprayer and set it aside. Discard the bottle.

    • 5

Fill the water bottle with clean cool water.

    • 6

Fit the filled water bottle with the sprayer and tighten the lid well. Take it outside to test it.

    • 9

Fill the water bottle with clean cool water.

    • 10

Replace the cap and tighten it well. Take the water shooter outside and take it for a test run. Be careful not to aim it at anyone who doesn't want to get wet.
