Vehicles and Roads
Dump trucks are among the most enjoyed sand vehicles. Find trucks with wheels that roll smoothly through the sand. A front-loader adds to the fun, with a large loader that dumps the sand behind the truck. Plastic tracks that can be placed in the sand create a road for vehicles to travel, as well as for rolling marbles and balls. A sand wagon with big wheels makes easy work of dragging sand toys on the beach and holds of lot of sand for other activities.
Molds and Forms
Molds are available in numerous sizes and styles, from simple starfish and seahorses to elaborate castles. Kids can create a sea of crabs, fish, turtles and frogs from molds, available at toy stores, made for playing in the sand. Use molds to make airplanes, trains and houses that even the littlest hand can hold and form. Pirate sets and body parts let kids create scenes and figures. Older children can create large, detailed castles with roads and spires from kits that contain a variety of molds, tools and detailed instructions on creating one-of-a-kind sand sculptures.
Water Towers and Sand Mills
Young children enjoy watching the effect of dumping sand into towers that turn gears and dump sand out of a bucket. Sand towers and water wheels have kids dump sand or water into a hole and go through a series of pipes and tunnels until it reaches the bottom and is dumped out. Kids put the various pipes together to create their own design for the towers. A sand water park lets kids build a curving hill of connecting tracks to create rivers, dams and waterfalls.
Sand Tables
Sand tables come with an assortment of accessories. Many include molds, shovels and diggers, some have sifters and a few even include a recessed area for water. With umbrellas for shade, some offer protection from sun. Many fold into compact carrying cases, making it easy to transport to the beach or store with outdoor toys for the sandbox. With pails, shovels, rakes, sifters and buckets, sand tables offer a variety of activities for toddlers and young children.
