How to Repaint a Red Toy Wagon

A red toy wagon is a classic toy for any child to enjoy. Red toy wagons have been in production for over 100 years, and antique models can be worth several hundred dollars. If you have an old toy wagon that is starting to look worn and dull, repaint it to help it look new again. It just takes a little bit of time and some basic supplies.

Instructions

    • 1

Sand the wagon. Use a medium-grit sandpaper to remove any irregularities and chipped paint from the wagon. Clean the wagon with a rag once you have finished to remove any dust or other particles.

    • 2

Cover the parts of the wagon that you do not wish to paint. Use masking tape to wrap the wheels, handle, lettering and other exposed areas so they won't be painted red.

    • 3

Open the red automotive paint. Use a paint brush or paint spray gun to coat all of the areas of the toy wagon you wish to paint red.

    • 4

Wait 10 to 12 hours for the paint to dry. Add another coat of red paint to thicken and darken the color. Wait another 10 to 12 hours for the paint to dry. Remove the masking tape.
