Instructions

    • 1

Choose a large tree with a branch that is at least 8 inches in diameter. Make sure that you can place the swing 3 to 4 feet from the trunk. Choose a spot that is soft and grassy, not an area over concrete.

    • 2

Drill two 5/8-inch diameter holes vertically in the branch you've chosen.

Make sure the holes go completely through the branch. Insert the eye-bolts securely into the branch and attach with washers and 2 bolts each. Tighten securely.

    • 3

Place your swing's "S" hooks into the eyes of the eye bolts. If your swing does not come with "S" hooks, tie the ropes onto the eyes of the eye bolts with a bowline knot. If the rope that came with the swing is not long enough, you may add about 2 feet of nylon rope to each side.
