A DIY Boomerang with Four Wings (Light)
Go to Google's homepage or your search engine of choice. Type in "4 wing boomerang." Several of the results should come back with templates on the page. Typing in "template" after "4 wing boomerang" will narrow your results, but you may miss out on a few different sizes of the template.
Save the template to your computer. At this point you can print out the template, but many people prefer to resize the image first to make a larger boomerang. This is up to you.
Cut out the center hole that is on the boomerang template. Once finished, lay the template on one side of your manila file folder and trace around the boomerang and its inner circle.
Cut out the boomerang from the manila file folder. Make sure to get the curves as accurate as possible while doing so, as a flat line where a curved one should be may effect the flight pattern. Test out your new four-winged boomerang by throwing it.
A DIY Boomerang with Four Wings (Heavy)
Go to Google's homepage or your search engine of choice. Type in "4 wing boomerang." Several of the results should come back with templates on the page. Typing in "template" after "4 wing boomerang" will narrow your results, but you may miss out on a few different sizes of the template. Print it out. Cut out the center hole. Lay the template over your material (cardboard, Styrofoam, etc.) and trace out the outline and center hole.
Cut the template out of your thick material. Since this material is thicker and less easy to bend than a manila file folder, you may need to use a box cutter to accurately cut out the center circle.
Make adjustments to your boomerang if it does not fly correctly. With thicker materials, there may be a chance that the wings need to be shaped. If your boomerang doesn't fly correctly, use a file, sander, knife or whatever is appropriate for the material you used to round the top surface of each wing. You could even shape the wings to an airfoil, which may fly even better than the round wings.
