How to Make a Sled Out of a Rubbermaid Top

There are big white puffy snowflakes falling from the sky and the ground is getting covered in a blanket of the white stuff. The conditions are perfect for a quick sledding excursion, but you can't find a sled in your house anywhere. But you happen to find a large Rubbermaid trashcan with a curved, round, lid and you can see yourself sledding down a hill with it. Put on your snow gear and grab your Rubbermaid lid because it's time to get outside and go sledding.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a curved, round lid that will fit a spherical Rubbermaid trash can. The best lids are those with no grooves in them, but in a pinch curved lids with grooves will work. These curved lids are the best to use because they emulate the plastic saucers that you find in stores.

    • 2

Inspect the lid for any cracks or defects. Sitting in a cracked lid may make it break further and may injure whoever is riding in it.

    • 3

Rinse the lid with water to get rid of any debris or dust.

    • 4

Dry the lid with a rag or cloth

    • 5

Sit in the curved part of the lid and hold onto the sides while going down a snowy hill.
