Check the Area
Do a few simple things before unrolling the tarp and moonwalk. Checking to make sure the outside outlets work will prevent you from setting up the moonwalk by an out-of-commission outlet. Pick up loose stones and sticks in the area and stay clear of low-hanging branches.
Tarp
Place the tarp on the ground and roll it out, removing all of the creases. The tarp will protect the moonwalk from the ground, even when on grass. Stake the tarp down with metal stakes, using a hammer to drive them into the ground. At a minimum, stake down the four corners. You must use stakes or the tarp will move during inflation and use of the ride.
Setup
Use a hand truck to move the moonwalk from the trailer to the tarp and a friend to help guide the unit. Once you place the inflatable ride on the tarp, unroll it, with the blower tubes hanging off one of the shorter ends. The entrance will be at the opposite end. Pull the moonwalk so it is completely unfolded.
Securing the Moonwalk
States have different regulations, but the double-tie method is a safety standard and keeps the moonwalk secure. Use two pieces of 2-1/2 feet-long nylon rope per each tie town attached to the moonwalk and loop them through. Pull each rope at a 45-degree angle away from the moonwalk. Make a loop around the stake, then drive it into the ground, making sure the rope is taught. Do this for all of the available tie-downs.
Inflation Time
There are two blower tubes, but you will need only one. Use one of the extra straps to close the tube end, knowing that some air will leak. This makes the moonwalk bouncy. Place the blower into the other blower tube, pleat the moonwalk fabric and secure it with a strap. Keep the extension cord away from the entrance and where children will be playing. Turn it on and let the moonwalk fill. It takes only a minute or two.
Safety Check
Inspect the moonwalk before letting anyone inside. Take off your shoes and go inside, gathering up anything that was left behind, cleaning up dirt with a small vacuum, wiping down the surfaces and noting any extreme damage. Also walk around the outside and look for anything out of the ordinary. Keep safety and emergency instructions handy once the moonwalk is in use.
