Games
Utilize the picnic table to help children enjoy the outdoors while playing common indoor games such as checkers, cards and boardgames. The picnic table can seat four to six children comfortably. The bench style seating that has the users facing each other is ideal for playing a game, as the children can all watch each other and all steps and moves in the game. The table area itself is wide enough to accommodate a board game along with all the necessary pieces, such as cards, dice and game pieces.
Puppet Shows
The design of the picnic table make it a prime location for a puppet show. Children can kneel or crouch behind the benches and perform their puppet show on the tabletop. The bench could also become an area for storage of different puppets, props or puppet costumes, for a quick scene change or outfit change. Spectators can sit on the bench on the opposite side to watch the show.
Studying
A picnic table allows for a combination of enjoying the outdoors along with accomplishing their studies. Working outside can feel more pleasant and enjoyable than being confined to a bedroom or kitchen. The space of the picnic table itself can easily accommodate a variety of text books, workbooks, notebooks and papers. The ample seating will make it effective for use by study groups as well.
Arts and Crafts
Arts and crafts are well suited to being undertaken outdoors as they will not run the risk of making a mess on a kitchen table, counter or floor. The picnic table surface is typically durable and can be easily cleaned of paint or glue spills. Even if the surface cannot be fully cleaned off, the results will be less devastating than if they were on the expensive dining room table.
