How to Make Simple BB Guns

Homemade BB guns are a relatively simple and safe way to enjoy shooting sports without the dangers that come with bullets and shot. Making your own homemade BB shooter is a fun and educational option for parents who don't want to spend money on a new toy that won't be used very often and those who like to teach their children to create fun items using household objects. In addition, the simple balloon BB shooter, when used with plastic BBs, is less dangerous than an air gun, which can injure people and animals.

Things You'll Need

Heavy-duty latex balloon
3 inch PVC tee pipe
Duct Tape
Scissors
BBs

Instructions

Construction

  A heavy-duty balloon creates the force.
  
  Cut the heavy-duty latex balloon in half and discard the top portion where you would have blown into the balloon. The stretchy latex will provide the force used to propel the BBs.

  Stretch the latex balloon over one end of the tee PVC pipe. Do not use the tee arm for this step as you want the BBs to be able to exit the shooter.

  Wrap the duct tape around the pipe, sealing the edges of the balloon. This will make sure the latex does not slip during shooting.
Shooting

  A dart board makes a safe target.
  
  Create a target to shoot at. This can be an empty soda can, paper bulls eye, or a piece of cardboard.

  Drop a BB into the open end of the tee shooter and grasp the BB in your fingertips through the latex balloon.

  Pull back on the latex balloon covered BB a few inches and release in the direction of the target.
