Children love playing in the sand. They enjoy the gritty dirt, the feel of the sand between their fingers, and the imagination play that naturally follows. Parents love sandboxes because of the hours of enjoyment they provide for their children. While a backyard sandbox can be expensive and difficult to create, it can also be made simple and inexpensive by using recycled materials. Old truck tires create cheap and environmentally friendly edging for a child's sandbox. The tires act as a border to hold the sand and a seat for children immersed in sand-play.
