Homemade Bubbles
You and your kids can make bubbles together at home with just three inexpensive ingredients. Combine 1 cup of water, 1/3 cup liquid dish soap and 2 tablespoons of glycerin or light corn syrup in a shallow container, like a baking dish or pie plate. You can find glycerin at drug or craft stores.
Tiny Bubble Blower
Grab a handful of drinking straws and tape them together. Dip one end of the straw bundle into the bubble solution. Blow through the other end of the straws. By using all the holes from the straws, you can make tons of tiny bubbles instead of just a few big ones.
Foam Machine
This simple, handmade tool will create mounds of foam with the bubble solution. Cut the bottom off a water bottle, then cover it with a facecloth. Seal the facecloth on the bottle with an rubber band. Dip the towel into water and then dish soap. Blow through the mouthpiece to create trails of foamy bubbles.
Bubble Pictures
Combine 1 cup of bubble solution with 1/2 cup of tempera paint. Make three or four different combinations of colors in separate, disposable containers like aluminum baking dishes. Using straws, let the kids blow bubbles into the paint mixture so there is plenty of foam. As the bubbles begin to rise over the top of the container, place a piece of light-colored construction paper on top. Repeat this process with different colored solutions until the piece of paper is covered with the bubble prints.
