Airsoft Sniping Tips

Airsoft guns are detailed replicas of firearms that fire plastic pellets through either a spring-loaded ejection system or compressed gas. Airsoft guns are fun for battle simulations when they are used responsibly. There are a number of different Airsoft guns to choose from, but one that requires special skill is the Airsoft sniper rifle. There are many tactics that can improve a sniper&'s success during an Airsoft battle.
  1. Use Shadows to Your Advantage

    • It is important for a sniper to stay out of sight from his targets while keeping them in sight so he can eliminate them from the game. Stay in darkened areas as much as possible while moving into position and try to pick sniping locations that keep you in darkness or at least out of sight. If it is sunny out, position yourself with your back to the sun if possible. This will prevent glare from interfering with your line of sight to the target, and the target will have glare problems when facing your direction.

    Eliminate Movement

    • Sniping is frequently glorified in films and TV shows, but the reality, even in Airsoft games, is that it is a tedious job that requires a lot of patience. The more you move around, the more likely you will be spotted and shot. Move slowly and steadily to your location and avoid running. Once you are settled into your sniping position, you should barely move at all and only be adjusting the position of your weapon as needed to get a better shot.

    Use a Spotter

    • A spotter uses binoculars to help spot targets and advise snipers on how to take the best shot. The spotter should know all of the escape routes and act as an extra set of eyes for the sniper. A spotter is able to see the larger picture, while the sniper focuses only on a small portion of it. If the sniper is trying to pick off a target, he is in danger of being flanked. The spotter is better able to anticipate this and react. While a spotter is not required in Airsoft shootouts, they are beneficial to a sniper&'s success.
