Outdoor Play Equipment for Kids

If you are looking for outdoor play equipment for your kids or playground, you have a number of options from which to choose. For example, you can purchase a climber, slide or teeter-totter. You should consider a few points when purchasing playground equipment, such as safety and the ages of the children for which the equipment is intended.
  1. Climber

    • A climber is an outdoor toy on which kids can climb. They come in many shapes and sizes. Climbers include geo-domes or rope walls. Some climbers have other toys attached, such as a sliding pole, and other climbers have places for kids to sit at the top. If the children in question are toddlers, make sure to get a climber that is closer to the ground.

    Teeter-Totter

    • A teeter-totter or see-saw is a piece of outdoor play equipment on which children take turns going up and down. The teeter totter is intended for more than one child to play on at once. Teeter totters usually have two to four seats. One child sits on each seat of the teeter-totter, then the kids take turns bouncing around and going up and down. Children must take turns getting on and off of the teeter-totter so no one gets hurt.

    Merry-Go-Round

    • A merry-go-round or carousel is a piece of outdoor play equipment on which kids can spin around. After the children sit down on the merry-go-around, another child or adult can help push the merry-go-round until it picks up speed and spins the riders around. Since merry-go-rounds come in different sizes, make sure you take into consideration the number of kids who will be playing on it so you don't buy one that is too small or too large.

    Slide

    • Slides are found on many playgrounds and in many backyards. Slides often come as part of a play set, but you can also buy them individually. When you select a slide, make sure to take the age of the children who will be playing on it into consideration. Get one that is high enough for older kids to enjoy or one that is low enough to the ground for toddlers to play on. You can purchase a basic straight slide or buy one that has a tunnel shape or lots of twists.
