How Do You Make a Homemade Water Balloon Launcher?

When the weather is warm and you don't have access to a pool, water balloons are your best bet for summertime refreshment. While throwing water balloons is a perfectly suitable method of attack, you can upgrade your throwing power and distance with a homemade water balloon launcher. You will be the envy of every balloon-wielding soldier on the block with a launcher you can make with a few supplies in no time flat.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the drill with the 1/8-inch drill bit to make two holes just below the funnel rim side-by-side that are approximately 1 inch apart. Mirror your work on the other side of the funnel with two more holes.

    • 2

Cut your surgical tubing into two 10-foot lengths.

    • 3

Insert one end of surgical tubing into one of your new holes in the funnel. Tie the end of the tubing in a knot just inside the funnel to secure it in place. Take the other end of the length of tubing, insert it into the nearby hole in the funnel and make another knot. Do the same with the other length of tubing on the other side of the funnel.

    • 4

      Fill up several water balloons.

    • 5

Place a water balloon in the funnel. Have two friends hold onto a length surgical tubing each. They will need to brace themselves, as your role is to pull the funnel backwards. The tubing will stretch, creating potential energy that will soon be converted into kinetic energy.

    • 6

Aim the open end of the funnel towards your foe and release.
