Parts
The frame of a trampoline is its base. Depending on the type and strength of the base, the trampoline has different weight restrictions. The jumping mat is available in different quality grades, and the springs hold the mat to the base. The pad covers those springs.
Risk
Without a trampoline pad, you could slip and fall between the springs. You could also get caught in the springs, lose your balance and fall off the trampoline.
Size
Because standard trampoline springs are typically 8 ½ inches, covering the springs requires a 13-inch trampoline pad. Choose a pad that will cover enough past the springs to prevent any slipping.
Content
Trampoline pads are typically stuffed with foam; it is thickest where the pad covers the frame and thins as it covers the springs.
Straps
The pads attach to the trampoline in different ways, including Velcro, clips and shoe string-like straps; however, the most effective is the elastic strap because of its durability.
