How to build a Washer toss pit in the yard

Washer toss is a competitive outdoor game played by two or more people, similar to horseshoe pitching. It is cheap to set up and fun, although challenging, to play. Contestants throw washers at a PVC cup from a designated distance, using any technique they wish. Most commonly, a player uses an underhand throw, balancing the washer on his middle finger, with his index finger curled around the edge of the washer and his thumb on top. The washer spins off the index finger, like a Frisbee, and glides parallel to the ground, toward the cup.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a frame with the four pieces of scrap wood. Hold the frame together using the 3-inch screws. Fasten the plywood base to the frame using the 1 3/4-inch screws.

    • 2

Measure the PVC pipe with the L Brackets. Drill four holes at equal distance from each other. Fix the L brackets to the PVC tube with the nuts and bolts.

    • 3

Find the center point of the carpet. Use the PVC tube to measure to make a hole.

    • 4

Use the carpet to gauge where the PVC pipe needs to be in the box. Position the pipe inside the box using the 3/4-inch screws.

    • 5

Place the carpet over the pipe and into the box. Staple it to the base.
