How to Dye a Barbie Doll's Hair With No Food Coloring

Little girls love giving their Barbie dolls a makeover, and this can sometimes include changing up the doll's hair. Dying Barbie's hair with materials like food coloring can be messy and aren't always permanent, so a different solution may work better. Use acrylic paint to create a dye bath that can be applied to the fake hair using a fine-tooth comb. With this method, you can turn Barbie's hair any color you like, from red to pink or purple.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Squirt a quarter-size circle of acrylic paint, in any color of your choice, in the bottom of the paper cup.

    • 2

Fill the cup half-way with water and stir until the paint has incorporated, making colored water.

    • 3

Lay a sheet of newspaper out on a table and place the doll flat on the paper, fanning out the doll's hair.

    • 4

Dip a fine-tooth comb in the paint water, then comb through the doll's hair. Continue until all the hair is coated with the dye.

    • 5

Clip the doll's feet in the clip of a hanger and hang over a sink or tub, so the doll's hair dries without touching its face.
