How to Do a Black Barbie Makeup Look

The first Black Barbie brand doll, released in the early 1980s, wore a long red skirt with a matching top and glamorous gold costume jewelry. Today, she's been updated with an equally glam look that's more modern and youthful. To emulate Black Barbie style makeup, you'll have to be willing to stand out from the crowd. Black Barbie is known for being an ode to women of African descent from around the world who know a thing or two about beauty and style.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold a black eyeliner pencil as you would hold a pencil for writing. Then use it to carefully outline your eyes, following the upper and lower lash lines. When you reach the outer portion of your eyelid, drag the eyeliner out to create a 1/8-inch wing. Doing so will emulate the almond shape of Black Barbie's eyes.

Use tweezers to hold a set of false eyelashes and then dip them in a small pile of eyelash adhesive. Quickly set the lashes atop your own upper eyelashes. Use the tweezers to manipulate them until they are perfectly in line with your upper lash line. The eyelash adhesive should turn clear upon drying so don't worry about any clumps.

Pick out a bright pink lipstick shade that complements your complexion. Whether your skin is brown like Black Barbie's or not, the look won't be convincing without a shocking pink lip color. Apply it liberally and then top it off with pink lip gloss for added shimmer.

Swirl a blush brush around in a bronzing product that's suitable to your skin tone and type. For instance, if you have oily skin, you'll want to combat that with powder bronzer. The purpose of bronzer is to give your skin a sun-kissed or tanned appearance on your cheekbones, nose and temples. This product will help you emulate Black Barbie's natural glow.

Apply a peach-colored blush to your cheekbones to complete the look. Like any other product you use, it's important to select a shade that's suitable to your complexion. You're going for a glamorous look that's not clown-like so apply just enough blush so that it's barely visible.
