How to Repair Bite Marks on Mod Barbie Dolls

Mod era Barbie dolls refer to a vintage line of dolls which debuted to the public in 1967. The "Twist N' Turn" Barbie doll was the first one to debut. This doll had long eyelashes, a waist that twisted from side to side and bendable legs. Other mod-style dolls followed, such as "Talking Barbie" in 1968. If you're a collector or just one who appreciates vintage Barbie dolls, you may find yourself repairing such dolls, for Barbies that have been used by children could have a host of flaws, including bite marks. Luckily, such flaws are fixable.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the doll's clothing. Wipe down the doll's body with a cotton ball dipped in warm soapy water. Rinse with a cotton ball dipped in clean water.

    • 2

Scoop a dime-sized amount of rubber caulk onto a plastic knife. Pat the caulk into the bite marks, and smooth it out with your knife. Allow the caulk to dry for approximately 2 hours.

    • 3

Sand the dried caulk down with 100-grit sandpaper. Dust off the area with a feather duster.

    • 4

Take the doll to a paint supply or art supply store. Compare swatches of acrylic paint with the doll's skin so that you have the closest possible match.

    • 5

Paint over the dried caulk with a fine-tipped paintbrush.
