Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create an updo for Barbie. Using small rubber bands, brush Barbie's hair into a simple ponytail or bun. If you want to fashion a more elaborate look, braid a small chunk of hair on one side of Barbie's head and use it to wrap the ponytail or bun.
Style Barbie's hair with styling products. Using hair mousse or wax, you can give Barbie a sleek wet look. Apply mousse or wax to the sides of Barbie's hair. Smear it into the hair with your fingers and push the hair away from Barbie's face to create a high-fashion runway look.
Set Barbie's hair to create soft curls. Wet Barbie's hair before wrapping it around a bobby pin. Place Barbie's head in boiling water briefly. Allow the hair to air dry. Once the hair is dry, remove the bobby pin to release the soft curls.
Accessorize Barbie's hair with hair clips and extensions. Use bobby pins or mini claw clips to pull the top half of Barbie's hair back and away from her face. If you want to create a funkier look, create your own hair extensions by cutting straw or yarn to 3 or 4-inch lengths. Pin these into Barbie's hair with bobby pins or a mini claw clip.
Cut Barbie's hair. This irreversible styling technique can be used to give your Barbie a truly unique look. Clip the top half of Barbie's hair to the top of her head using a mini claw clip. Use scissors to cut the desired amount off the bottom layer of hair. Remove the mini claw clip to drop the top layer of hair back down and cut the same amount of hair off this layer as you did for the bottom layer.
