How to Tie a Barbie Ponytail

Brushing and combing Barbie's hair can be an enjoyable part of play for children. When Barbie needs a quick updo, the basic ponytail never goes out of style. Borrow a tiny hair band from a little girl's hair accessories to style Barbie's hair. While young children may not be able to tie a Barbie ponytail, with a little adult help, Barbie can be primped, pretty and ready for entertaining play.

Instructions

    • 1

Comb the Barbie's hair with the fine-tooth comb to make it smooth and tangle-free. If you find tangles in the hair, remove them gently without pulling or tugging too hard because this may damage the Barbie hair. Wet the comb with water before combing if the Barbie hair looks unruly or sticks out in odd directions.

    • 2

Pull the Barbie hair back into a ponytail at the crown of her head. Comb the hair as you pull it back to make sure the hair looks smooth and sleek.

    • 3

Place the elastic hair band around the Barbie ponytail. Loop it two or three times to make it tight. The elastic hair band will hold the ponytail tightly until you are ready to remove it.

    • 4

Tie the ribbon in a tiny bow around the ponytail. The ribbon will add simple decoration to the ponytail, while covering the elastic hair band at the same time.

    • 5

Remove the hair band by slipping the blade of a small pair of scissors under the hair band and snipping. These hair bands are generally disposable (one-use) and you avoid pulling out Barbie hair by simply snipping the hair band off.
