Things You'll Need
Instructions
Wash your hands in mild soap and water to remove natural oil residues.
Assess and remove Barbie's clothes. If in good condition, hand-wash them in a weak solution of warm water and mild fabric detergent. Rinse well with lukewarm water, squeeze out gently, and place on a towel to dry naturally. If the clothes are very delicate, then it is best not to wash them at all.
Take a clean cloth, dip a corner into a bowl of soapy water, and carefully give Barbie a wipe down to remove surface dirt. Pat dry with a soft cloth.
Wipe Barbie gently with cotton wool and rubbing alcohol. This should get rid of any pen marks. Use cotton buds to get into dimples and crevices. Use toothpicks to remove grime from arm and leg joints.
Wash your doll's hair with shampoo and conditioner. Tease out matted hair with your fingers and use the wide-toothed comb to remove tangles. It will be easier to do this while the conditioner is still on Barbie's hair. Rinse hair well with lukewarm water and allow to dry.
Check Barbie's legs for straightness. You can restore bowed legs by tying the legs together at thighs, knees and ankles. Dip the doll's limbs into very hot water and they should straighten easily.
Repair makeup with Liquitex acrylic paint and the smallest brush you can find. This is very delicate work, so you'll need a steady hand. If worried that you will make a mistake, then leave Barbie bare-faced.
