Things You'll Need
Instructions
Check your Barbie for any dust or dirt that has accumulated during her stay on your shelf. Remove any metal or plastic pieces and package them separately, as they can cause rusting and green staining, which is almost impossible to remove.
Wrap your doll carefully in acid-free tissue paper, available at some craft supply stores and online. Lay clothing flat, placing a few sheets of tissue paper between the items.
Place the doll and accessories in an acid-free cardboard box. According to Fashion Doll Guide, it is much better to use cardboard boxes for storing dolls than plastic containers. Plastic can retain moisture and damage the boxes or items inside.
Place a few sheets of acid-free tissue paper in between each box holding a doll that has never been removed. Make sure to pack them upright. Do not stack boxes on top of each other, and be careful that the plastic is not being creased or crushed.
Find a storage area that is climate controlled and away from smoke and sunlight. Be sure that no pets or small children have access to the items. Bedroom closets or storage trunks are good choices for doll storage.
