Look for a marking on the horse, which states © 2005 MATTEL, INC. Mattel issues a new copyright on toys created each year, specifically those created from a new mold or those with some change over the past year. For example, the Ken doll released that year and dressed like Captain Kirk from "Star Trek" had this stamp.
Check for a © 2004 MATTEL, INC. marking. This marking was used on some of the earlier Pegasus toys released as part of that line. The Prince Aidan/Ken doll from the line actually had a 2004 marking because some of the toys were made in 2004 and released the following year, including the horses.
Examine the horse closely for a 2005 2006 MATTEL, INC. marking. This marking was used by some toys released in 2005, as well as 2006. It's more common with the Barbie movie from 2006, "Barbie as the Island Princess," but your horse might have the marking.
Find markings on the horse that indicate it had slots for both a saddle and wings. The toy horse wore a saddle, but also became the Pegasus with attached wings. The horse should also have a pink coloring, with glitter around the legs, purple hair and a plastic crown attached to the head.
Search the larger horse for the same coloring and markings. Mattel released a Barbie Groom and Glam Brietta the Pegasus Styling Head, which allowed girls to brush the horse's head, change its jewelry and do other things. This horse is only the head, but has the same markings.
