How to Replace the Batteries in a Barbie Car

The Barbie car is a battery-powered toy vehicle that is made by Fisher-Price. The Barbie car can hold two small passengers in comfort up to five miles per hour and operates on two different types of batteries. The battery that provides the power to the wheels is a 12-volt lead acid battery that comes with its own plug-in charger. That batteries that power the simulated radio in the car̵7;s dashboard are AA alkaline batteries that are replaced when the sounds from the radio become weak or stop altogether. Either type of battery in your Barbie car can be replaced in a matter of minutes.

Things You'll Need

12-volt sealed lead acid battery
Philips screwdriver
AA alkaline batteries (3)

Instructions

  Open the hood on your Barbie car to replace the 12-volt battery that powers the car's wheels. Locate the battery at the center of the engine bay at the rear.

  Remove the wiring harness by pulling the electrical connector from the battery by hand. Move the wiring harness to the right side of the engine bay so that it will not be damaged when the battery is removed.

  Release the battery hold-down retainer by sliding it over the front of the battery by hand. Lift the battery up and out of the engine bay and discard it.

  Place the new 12-volt battery into the battery cavity on the engine bay. Slide the battery hold-down retainer back over the top of the battery to secure it in place.

  Plug the car̵7;s wiring harness connector into the new battery and push it into place until it is fully seated on the battery terminal. Close the hood.
