Use decorative contact paper to cover flat or semi-flat surfaces, such as doll tables, chairs, refrigerators, dressers, countertops, and headboards with a readymade pattern. Make sure the surfaces being covered are clean and dry before applying adhesive paper. Cut and apply contact paper carefully, making sure there are no bubbles, especially at corners and creases. Trim away any excess paper.
Make a custom pattern for Barbie doll furniture by arranging stickers according to preference. Flowers, stars, and polka dots are examples of popular shapes that are easy to position to make an attractive motif. Use squares and triangles to create checkerboard patterns or geometric designs, and line shapes along the edge of a surface to make a border pattern.
Give plain Barbie furniture a stylish, finished appearance with a colored paint or wood stain. For plastic furniture, use spray paint that is especially designed for glossy surfaces. Paint entire furnishings in one color or experiment with accent colors and hand-drawn patterns. For example, paint chair seats in a different color from the legs and back to create the appearance of seat cushions. Use gray paint on knobs to make ̶0;metal̶1; hardware.
Design a decoration and repeat it on related pieces of furniture, such as a dining room set, to make a collection. Add corner embellishments and borders to frame your designs.
Create bedding and pillows with your favorite fabrics. For bedding, cut fabric to the appropriate size and remove any loose threads. Use a liquid seam sealant like Fray Check to produce clean edges or fold the edges back and sew them down. Sew or glue ribbon or lace trim to the top of the bedspread for embellishment. Save fabric to make pillows and chair cushions and stuff them with cotton balls or pieces of a foam sponge.
Add ornaments to headboards, footboards, and Barbie vanities using small decorative beads. Craft beads are sold in various colors, materials and shapes, including flowers and hearts. Use a glue gun to attach beads to doll furniture.
