Barbie Dress-Up Ideas

Barbie is ageless, and girls never tire of dressing her up. Instead of dressing up for a day of shopping or going on a date with Ken, let Barbie explore the world and her dreams. Choose your favorite Barbie and set up scenery for playing. Construct a stage for Barbie to rock out. Take her to Spain for a Spanish festival. Or gather miniature animals and go on a safari. Dress Barbie up and travel the globe.
  1. Born to Rock

    • Barbie takes center stage with her band. Dress her in a pair of colored fishnet stockings or slashed leggings. Find a short plaid skirt with tulle that is multi-hued or neon. Hang a paper clip chain loosely around her waist.

Put her in a black tank top embellished with splashes of neon paint. Fasten tiny studs across the neckline. Make sure Barbie grabs her arm warmers and jangle chains to wear around her neck. Pick up a pair of trendy lace boots, the higher the heel the better.

Pouf up Barbie's hair, spray on temporary hair dye that matches her outfit and tie her hair in a big ribbon. Give her a pair of dark glam sunglasses and a guitar and she's ready to hit the stage.

    Sevilla Feria

    • It's April and Barbie boards an airplane to attend a spring festival in southern Spain, "Sevilla Feria." Besides taking in the sights, she will enjoy a week of festivities including dancing, eating and socializing.

Have Barbie slip into a classic flamenco dress with a three-tiered, ruffled bottom. It should be either polka-dotted or brightly colored. Wrap a crochet shawl with fringe around her shoulders. She will need to wear shoes with either a side buckle like Mary Janes or lace-styled shoes that tie around the ankle.

For accessories, add multicolored bangles with a matching beaded necklace.

Slick her hair back and fasten it into a bun. Put a small ornamental comb into the hair bun. Place a tiny silk rose behind her hair and a wooden painted fan in her hand. Set Barbie sidesaddle on a horse that will take her to the festival.

    Kenya Safari

    • Barbie is thrilled, she's in Kenya to go on a safari with a few friends. Luckily, she packed the right clothes. Dress Barbie in a pair of light-colored linen pants and a long-sleeved linen shirt. If she gets hot during the day, she can roll up her shirt sleeves. She'll want to wear her khaki vest with pockets and for the cool morning, a khaki jacket.

Wrap a leopard-print scarf around her neck so she looks stylish for the trek. She'll need to put up her hair and wear the safari hat to protect her from the hot sun during the day. Grab a pair of comfortable boots, as she might have to do some walking on the trek.

Don't forget her water bottle and fanny pack. She should probably bring her rain coat, just in case.
