Alternatives to Barbies

Barbies have long been the standard doll for little girls growing up, and they still fill up toy aisles today. But if you want to provide the little girl in your life an alternative to Barbie, there are plenty of dolls to choose from, and they can be found at many toy stores and retailers.
  1. Bratz Dollz

    • Possibly the closest thing to Barbie that's not a Barbie, Bratz has proven to be popular, with dozens of different dolls and a feature-length movie. Like Barbie, the dolls come with many accessories and houses. Bratz dolls are the same size as Barbies, but they have larger heads and a more cartoonish look.

    Polly Pocket

    • The miniature Barbie is the Polly Pocket. A lot bigger in size than their early 1990s counterparts, the dolls of the new Polly Pocket line feature multiple characters and plenty of costumes for kids to dress their toys in. These dolls feature rubber clothes and accessories that are easy to change.

    Disney Princess Dolls

    • Disney Princess dolls replace the typical Barbie look with the faces, hair and costumes of the famous Disney princesses, including Ariel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. They are the same size as a standard Barbie.

    My Loving Family

    • The My Loving Family collection of toys adds a lot of diversity and detail to children's toys. The collections feature different races and family members, all the way from the baby to the grandparents.

    Barbie Imitations

    • Barbie imitations are cheaper than regular Barbies, but they offer the same size doll and dress-up fun. You can accessorize them, and they also fit in multiple Barbie products like cars and houses. The dolls are often found in dollar stores and feature different names such as "My Girl" and "Dolly."
