Instructions

Decide what fashions you want your Barbie to be wearing. Choose the fabrics and styles. Do a Google image search to find out what your favorite celebrities are wearing. Remember: Barbie needs to have red carpet clothes, as well as everyday clothes.

Visit a website such as crazyforbarbie.com, that offers free printable patterns. In order to be able to call them your own design, you must change at least five components to the pattern. So if you intend to design a halter top, go ahead and print the pattern. If the halter top for Barbie calls for a strap that is sewn behind the neck, with a V-cut front, change the pattern to a strap that ties behind the neck, and has a scoop front. Then, add lace trim, a trendy flower and some elements of embroidery. This is now your own creation, and you can put your label on it.

Print your patterns. You can print the patterns on regular paper and use carbon paper to transfer the pattern. It is far easier, however, to print directly on the fabric you will be using. Cotton inkjet fabric sheets are good for this kind of crafting. You use them with your printer just like paper.

Assemble Barbie's outfit. If you used printable fabric paper, this is just a matter of cutting the pattern and sewing it together. Transferring the pattern from printer paper is more time-consuming, but you also have more options regarding fabric choice. But there are limitations. For example, you cannot print a cashmere sweater for Barbie directly on the fabric.
