How to Thin a Barbie's Hair

Barbie is a fashion doll and as times change, you might want to change her hairstlye. If her hair is too thick for the hairstyle you choose, you can thin her hair. Thin Barbie's hair at home using tools around the house. But remember, once you cut her hair, it will not grow back.

Things You'll Need

Fine tooth comb
Soft bristle brush
Small barrettes
Eyebrow scissors

Instructions

  Remove tangles from Barbie's hair using a fine tooth comb. Comb gently, working from the bottom of the hair to the top.

  Part Barbie's hair to locate the root holes. Barbie's head has holes in it. In each hole is a plug of hair. To thin her hair, you will be cutting a little bit of hair from each plug.

  Use barrettes to hold Barbie's hair away from the area you are working on. You should work on one hole at a time.

  Cut the strands of hair at the bottom of each hair plug. Use eyebrow scissors to cut as close to Barbie's head as possible. The more hair you cut, the thinner her hair will be. Do not try to pull the hair out. Pulling will tangle the hair. Move the barrettes as you move to different holes.

  Brush Barbie's hair with a soft bristle brush after you have finished thinning her hair.
