How to Dress a Barbie

Find a Barbie doll that you would like to dress. Sometimes the Barbie's clothes don't fit well on the generic type "Barbie" dolls such as the Bratz dolls, My Scene Barbies or smaller dolls like Skipper.

Select an outfit you would like to your Barbie doll to wear. Make sure the outfit was designed to fit the doll you are dressing.

Open the back of the dress or shirt, which usually will have a snap, clasps or velcro. Put the dress or shirt over Barbie's head.

Put the doll's arms out in front of the doll and slip the arms into the sleeves. If your shirt or dress has tight-fitting long sleeves, you may need to squeeze the arms through by twisting them back and forth just slightly.

Close the back of the dress or shirt using the snaps, clasps or velcro. Pull down the clothing and make sure any collars or cuffs are even and that the outfit is fitting properly.

Slip on Barbie's pants or pantyhose if you are dressing her in them. Make sure the snaps or the Velcro is undone on the pants and slip in the legs, then snap them up.

Choose shoes or boots for your doll and put those on. Make sure they coordinate with the outfit and don't forget a purse.
