Instructions
Choose a motif for your Barbie gown. A Cinderella gown will require different fabric and trim than a fairy tale or modern bride gown. Look at photos of Barbie doll wedding gowns or available patterns.
Assemble your materials. Buy lace, chiffon, silk or cotton from your local fabric store or over the Internet. Buy tulle for wedding veils, satin ribbon for bows and sashes. Buy small quantities of these materials at craft stores in your area. You can even crotchet a Barbie doll wedding gown.
Buy your Barbie wedding gown pattern. Doll collectors magazines and websites like C.C. Originals offer Barbie wedding gown patterns. Older patterns are available on eBay. Find retro Barbie clothes patterns in your Mom's attic or at flea markets. This might take a bit of digging, but you will end up with something special.
Follow the pattern instructions, but leave room to improvise with trim, buttons or tiny floral bouquets made of cloth.
Recreate your wedding gown by buying similar materials and adapting the design for a Barbie doll. Even without a set pattern, a Barbie wedding dress is easy to make. Once you have the right materials, cut the arm holes and piece the fabric for a multi-layered skirt together. Use other Barbie wedding dress patterns as a guideline and then adapt it to your own original wedding gown style.
