How to Convert Your Bike to a Trike

Converting a bike to a trike can be used for practical applications, such as creating bikes for the disabled and equipping your trike with a basket for your child to carry schoolbooks with ease. If you are into creating a do-it-yourself project, purchase a trike conversion kit, equipped with the dual-wheel conversion assembly and parts and assemble a trike for your entire family to enjoy.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the bike seat and post by unlocking the seat stabilizer located underneath the bike seat.

    • 2

Remove the screws, using a screwdriver, of the handbrake assembly and the brake lines leading to the handlebars.

    • 3

Flip the bike upside down and detach the brake clip, located between the braking arm and bike frame.

    • 4

Remove the nuts that secures the rear wheel with a wrench tool. Keep the nuts in a safe place for later reassembly. Lift out the rear wheel and put it aside.

    • 5

Loosen the bike chain and place the dual-wheel trike assembly you have purchased between the rear-wheel metal axle that use to secure the rear wheel.

    • 6

Place the nuts that came equipped in the bike-to-trike conversion kit between the dual-wheels and the rear-wheel metal axle. Use the wrench to tighten the nuts.

    • 7

Reapply the bike chain through the new conversion sprocket gears of the dual-wheel assembly and replace the post and bike seat.
