How to Assemble Training Wheels

Children today often disregard their own safety for the sake of having fun, which means parents should always keep their guard up to protect their child, especially when bikes are involved. A bike is an integral part of a child's life, and a youngster just starting to learn how to ride a bike will often need training wheels. These simple little tools help stabilize the bike and provide a confidence-booster for the child enjoying his first ride.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the parts for the training wheel assembly. Make sure there is a holder, wheel and screw set. Look to the rear of the bike near the tire. Find the bolts that sit on both sides of the frame. Use a crescent wrench to loosen the bolts.

    • 2

Slide one of the training wheels to the base of the holder and attach with the screw set. Once you have tightened the screws, place the end of the holder against the bike frame. Using the bolt you loosened from the bike frame, place it back in and tighten.

    • 3

Repeat Step 2 for the other side of the bike frame. Be sure that both wheels have been placed on the frame evenly to offer perfect balance of the bike. Make the adjustments to the wheels as needed.

Check the alignment of the training wheels. Keep in mind they are designed to stabilize the bike. The wheels are not designed to touch the ground at all times, but rather to help prevent the child from rolling over or falling off.
