Things You'll Need
Instructions
Insert the seat post until it is fully seated into the clamp on the underside of the seat. Tighten the clamp with an adjustable wrench. Now insert the other end of the seat post into the seat tube on the top of the bicycle frame. Tighten the seat-post clamp with an adjustable wrench.
Push the handlebar stem into the front fork on the front of the frame. Point the protruding part of the stem so it faces the front of the bike. Tighten the center bolt on the stem with an adjustable wrench. Push one end of the handlebar through the stem clamp. Make sure the handlebar extends an equal amount on each side of the stem. Tighten the handlebar clamp with an adjustable wrench.
Place a blanket or furniture pad on a flat work area. Turn the frame upside down so that it is resting on the seat and handlebars, as this will make installation of the other components easier. (Note: Your Huffy bike already comes with the rear wheel and chain assembled. Use a helper if needed as the bike may be heavy and awkward to handle by yourself.)
Place the front fender into position on the front fork so the mounting holes line up. Attach the fender to the upper and lower portions of the fork with the screws provided and tighten with a Philips screwdriver. Place the front wheel onto the fork so the protruding sections of the axle hub rest on the slots on top of the fork. Tighten the nuts on each side of the wheel hub with a torque wrench to 21 foot pounds.
Attach the kickstand assembly to the mounting hole in the base of the frame, and tighten the retaining nut with an adjustable wrench. Turn the bicycle right-side up onto its tires and rotate the kickstand downward to support the bike in a standing-up position.
Attach the front and rear reflectors to their mounting brackets on the frame with the screws provided. Thread pedals into the holes in the crankshaft and tighten with an adjustable wrench. Tighten the right-hand pedal in a clockwise direction and the left-hand pedal, which has left-hand threads, in a counterclockwise direction.
Climb onto the bicycle and take it for a spin. Adjust the seat or handlebar height by loosening the clamps on the frame and raising or lowering the seat post or handlebar stem to the desired height. Tighten the clamps.
