Things You'll Need
Instructions
Research the various types of bicycle license plates available for sale. The possibilities are endless, but don't be overwhelmed by the quantity. Look for a certain type of license plate which you are interested in, and determine whether it will be personalized, novelty or even an official license plate.
Contact your state or city officials to register your bike. Some bike registration programs offer registrants the ability to purchase an official registered bike license plate. These programs vary from state to state and municipality to municipality, but are generally affordable and the product is usually quite attractive with a classic look.
Attach your license plate by mounting it to the rear of your bicycle frame. Some bicycles come equipped with holes to mount license plates, but many do not. If your bike does not come with the right equipment, you can purchase mounting kits online or from your local bike shop.
Mount the license plate attachment to the rear of your bicycle. This equipment will either attach to the seat pole or the rear of the frame, depending on the make and model of your bicycle and license plate attachment kit. Don't worry if the plate doesn't seem to fit exactly right, as there is not a lot of standardization in the manufacture of these plates and the mounting apparatus. Improvise if possible by drilling new holes or bending pieces of the mounting kit to fit the license plate.
