A Burst of Color
If your children are tired of their bicycles, a burst of color might provide them with the right inspiration and keep you from having to shell out the money to buy a new bike. Simply buy some cans of spray paint and let your children go at it. They can decorate their old bikes with splotches of bright colors. Some might paint wild stripes up and down their bike's frame. Others might go for the polka-dot look. Still others might choose the mysterious look of complete black.
Don't worry about how your children's bikes look when they're done. Remember, you're giving them the chance to express their creativity. They're not professionals; they don't need professional-looking bikes.
A Bit of Spot Color
Painting a bicycle can prove challenging for younger children, even with the help of adults. For these younger riders, spot color may be a better choice. Children can color part of their bikes to give it some flair. For instance, some children might want to paint the seats of their bicycles a bright yellow, while others might choose to paint their handlebars a shimmery gold. Again, the goal is to let children express themselves by painting whatever part of their bikes whatever colors they choose.
Cool Tires
A bicycle's tires are just begging for a dash of color. Parents can help their children add a bright red stripe around the middle of their bike tires. Other children might choose to color yellow polka dots over their bicycle's tires, while still others might prefer tiny blue stars or even green smiley faces to add some pizazz to their rides.
