Making it electric
Use a 15 mm wrench to remove the rear wheel from the bike. Remove the tire and inner tube from the wheel. Use the freewheel remover and adjustable wrench to remove the freewheel from the wheel.
Install the inner tube and tire on new hub motor wheel. Use the large adjustable wrench to install the freewheel from your old wheel onto the hub motor wheel.
Install the hub motor by placing it between the freewheel and the bike frame. The 17 mm bolt from the freewheel will be protruding through the hub motor plate. Put the drive chain onto the freewheel sprocket. Set the hub motor drive chain tension by sliding the motor away from the sprocket. Tighten the 17 mm bolt to secure it in place.
Fit the bike chain in place, and fit the chain stay into the slot on the hub motor plate.
Use a hex wrench to attach the motor plate and chain stay retention brackets to secure the motor plate to the bike frame. You might have to bend the brackets with pliers to ensure a good fit to your bike frame.
Use a hex wrench to install the two seat stay mounting brackets to the frame just below the seat. These brackets will hold the top of the battery rack.
Mount the the battery rack level to the ground. Use a hex wrench and hex bolts to attach the battery rack to the seat mount brackets.
Use a hex wrench and hex bolts to attach the two extensions at the bottom of the battery rack to your bike's dropout slot.
Turn the bike upside down. With the selector set to the lowest gear, spin the back tire by turning the pedal. As you do this, shift through the gears to see that they shift smoothly. If they don't, then use the barrel adjustment at the end of the derailleur cable to adjust. Turn the barrel clockwise to go up a gear and counterclockwise to go down a gear. This will ensure that your derailleur is shifting properly.
Look at your rear brakes. If they are not at the proper distance from the new wheel, use a hex wrench and a 15 mm wrench to adjust them. Place the hex wrench into the hex socket at the back of the brake and the 15 mm wrench on the nut on the other side. Turn both wrenches together to adjust the distance of the brake pads from the rim. When you get them positioned to your satisfaction, hold the 15 mm wrench in place and tighten up the hex nut to lock the brake position in place. Squeeze the brake handle to make sure it is right.
Use the tire pump to reinflate the tire.
Slide the throttle onto the right handlebar. Make sure that the thumb throttle is the innermost component on the handlebar so it doesn't interfere with braking. Use the included diagram to make sure the throttle and motor wires are connected properly.
Zip tie the wiring to the seat stays and make sure all wiring is away from the wheels. Run the wiring into the rack box through the hole between the rack support arms. Secure the wires and connectors inside the seat box and bolt down the lid with the Phillips screwdriver.
Slide the battery in place on either side and lock it in place with the key provided in the kit.
Charge the battery for 6 to 8 hours. Recheck the shifters and brakes to ensure they are working properly. Look at the rack and motor plate to make sure all the bolts are tight.
