How to Mount License Plates on a Bicycle

Just about everyone across the U.S. has owned or ridden a bicycle at one point in time. Riding a bicycle can be an extremely enjoyable pastime and a great way to exercise. Many states do, however, require a bicycle owner to have a license plate mounted visibly on the rear of the bike frame. This can help bicycle owners and law enforcement identify a bicycle that is lost, abandoned or stolen. Mounting a bicycle license plate is a very simple process.

Things You'll Need

  • Two wrenches (to fit size of bolts)
  • Small bolts to fit license plate
  • Nuts to fit bolts

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the bicycle license plate mount. This can be an attachable flat plate near the rear mudguard or right underneath the seat.

    • 2

Place the license plate onto the mount. Ensure that you line up the holes in the license plate with the holes on the mount.

    • 3

Place bolts through the holes, and attach nuts on the opposite side of the mount. Fasten them in place tightly using one wrench to hold the bolt and the other to turn the nut.
