The company fell out of favor, however, when they failed to enter the BMX and mountain bike markets in the second half of the 20th century. New leadership in the 21st century, however, is bringing the brand back in a big way, building on nostalgia and high quality.   Head to the Schwinn Web site for detailed information on each model they currently offer. If you're looking for their great "retro" models, see the Cruisers category.

  Select a few model lines that are related to each other. Since Schwinn offers such a broad range of bikes, you don't want to rule out any similar ones before seeing them up close and test-riding them.

  Look up your smallest local authorized dealer. As mentioned below, you will want to find a retailer that specializes in bikes only, rather than a broad range of sports. Not only will you get better service at a bike shop, but you will also find a better selection from which to choose.
