Removing the Wiring
Disconnect the battery by removing the battery connector.
Remove the plastic motor guard by inserting the tip of a flat blade screwdriver into one of the mounting tabs. Lift up on the screwdriver to undo the fist tab and then move on to the second one. The motor guard will open like a clamshell.
Remove the wires from the motor. The motor wires have female connectors that slide on to the positive and negative tabs on the motor, and they're easily removed with pliers.
Remove the rest of the wiring. Some Power Wheels have a single button on the handlebars to accelerate while others have gas peddles. Some of the more sophisticated models have reverse switches and gear shifts with multiple speeds. All these components have switches with simple connectors that are easily removed by squeezing a couple of tabs. Some disassembly may be required to access these switches.
Installing the New Wiring
Install the motor wires by pushing the female connectors onto the motor tabs. Make sure to observe the polarity. The red wire goes on the positive motor tab that is identified with a red dot. Replace the plastic motor cover.
Install the rest of the wiring by making all the necessary connections on the switches, buttons or peddles.
Rout the wiring neatly by using the cable organizers located throughout the bottom of the body.
