How to Replace the Mesh Communicator in a Rangerboard

Fans of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers seek out and collect the different colored replica Wrist Communicators, and while these items are well-crafted and designed, some collectors choose to customize them to the identical specifications as seen in the episodes. One of the ways they do this is by replacing the mesh screen inside the face of the communicator. Performing this modification takes a steady hand and a little patience.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Detach the face of the Communicator from the unit by wedging the tip of a jeweler's screwdriver beneath the outer edge of the base to pry it up.

    • 2

Extract the layer of mesh inside the Communicator. Since the mesh is glued in, either peel it back away from the edge with a fingernail or carefully break a hole in the mesh with needle-nose pliers and yank it out.

    • 3

Place a sheet of aluminum mesh over the opening of the Communicator. Trace the circular opening with a marker.

    • 4

Cut out the circle you traced on the mesh. Press the circle of mesh into the opening of the Communicator.

    • 5

Glue the mesh against the back of the face of the Communicator. Set aside and let dry for about an hour.

    • 6

Reattach the face to the opening of the Communicator to seal it up again. Line glue along the edge and press it into place.
