How to Make a Ghost Trap Toy

A new addition to the popular "Ghostbusters" film franchise is scheduled to be released in 2012 and that has people thinking about the film again. Some of the most exciting and fun moments in the films involved the use of traps and tools to catch ghosts. In reality, these tools may not be truly effective, but fun is the real key. Build a replica proton pack from the films with items that you may already have at home and enjoy a sense of nostalgia.

Instructions

    • 1

Glue a circular tin or aluminum pie pan to the bottom of a large cardboard box and then glue a second smaller cardboard box to the center of the top of the first cardboard box. Choose a selection of hoses and tubes and glue those to the left side of the large box for a realistic effect.

    • 2

Create a long thick plastic tube by cutting the tops of two large plastic soda bottles and gluing them together. Glue a small plastic container to the end of this tube. Glue the trigger from a slot car racing set underneath the tube.

    • 3

Glue an old vacuum hose to the pie-shaped tin from Step 1. Attach the piece that you built in Step 2 to the end of the vacuum hose with duct tape.

    • 4

Spray-paint the entire unit black and add stickers of hazard signs and Ghostbusters logos for decoration. Paint a red triangle on the front of the pack and glue loose colorful wires to the pack for even more realism. Apply reflective tape or duct tape to the pack to make it more evident if playing in dark areas.

    • 5

Allow all glue and paint to dry overnight and attach two nylon straps to the back of the proton pack so that it can be worn as a backpack.
