How to Make a S.W.A.T. Helmet

Making a SWAT helmet can be an easy craft to do. If you have a child who would like to be part of a SWAT team for Halloween or dress up in a SWAT costume for fun, then you can save yourself money by making one for him. It will look just like an actual SWAT helmet, and he can have hours of fun playing in it.

Things You'll Need

  • Helmet (bike helmet, motorcycle helmet, sports helmet or play helmet in any color)
  • Super glue
  • 4 pieces black construction paper
  • Plastic wrap covering
  • Helmet visor
  • 1 piece white construction paper
  • Pencil

Instructions

    • 1

Use the super glue to attach the black pieces of construction paper to the helmet. The paper should be standard size construction paper, and it will take about four to cover the entire surface of the helmet. Take the corner of the construction paper, and slowly flatten it over the super glue on the helmet. Make sure to smooth out the areas where it curves over the helmet using your hand.

    • 2

Super glue the plastic wrap over the black construction paper on the helmet. This will protect the paper during shootouts. Smooth the plastic wrap out as you go along to ensure that there are no bubbles or creases in it. It should go over all of the black construction paper.

    • 3

Attach the visor to the front of the helmet using the super glue. If using a helmet that already has the visor attached, this saves a step. This piece will protect your child's eyes and face during shootouts.

    • 4

Use the pencil to write out SWAT in big block letters on the white construction paper and then cut out the letters with the scissors. Super glue them to the plastic wrap on the front of the helmet above the visor.
