Things You'll Need
Instructions
Consult your manual or system information to ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements to download the necessary files to program your Dora phone. You will need an internet connection using Windows 2000, XP or higher and at least 50 MB of space to store the files. Both Windows Vista and Windows 7 are compatible with the Dora phone system. You can use Firefox, Netscape, Opera or Internet Explorer to download the "Dora Knows Your Name" program. If using Explorer, you need version 6.0 or higher.
Remove the toy from the box. For those purchasing the toy as a gift, please note that you will need to take the phone out of the packaging if you want to program the toy with the recipient's name.
Visit the "Dora Knows Your Name" cell phone website to select and download the correct name. Before downloading, accept the license agreement. If the download does not start immediately, wait a few seconds to allow the window prompt to open. Be sure that your browser does not prevent the download from opening. Once the installation file has been saved, you should be prompted to open and run the "Knows Your Name" program.
Open the program installation file and follow the installation procedure. The prompts will ask you to create a folder where all of the unzipped program files will be stored. If you receive an error message when trying to save the files, try saving to a different location or renaming the folder when installing the program.
Use a mini USB cable to connect your computer to the port on the left side of the bottom of the phone. Please note that a mini USB cable is not included with the phone. However, mini USB cables are commonly used by portable storage devices and digital cameras. If you do not have one on hand, buy one inexpensively online or at a local electronics store.
Run the newly installed program called "Dora KYN." The program downloads your chosen name to the phone. Exit the program and disconnect your newly personalized phone to give it try.
