D-Scanner Digivice Instructions

The "Digivice," digital device, is used by tamers of Digimon characters in the show of the same name. The D-Scanner is the fourth generation of these toys, which let you tame and raise your own monster by exploring and fighting other monsters. It gets its name from the barcode scanner included in the toy. The barcode scanner can be used to scan any bar code in your house, as well as some specific Digimon cards with specialized bar codes.

Instructions

  Power on the D-Scanner. If you are opening it for the first time, there may be a plastic tab inserted between the battery and the device. Remove that tab to switch it on.

  Use the buttons to type in your name. Press the "A" button to cycle through the letters, and the "B" button to select a letter. When finished, press the "B" button again to confirm your name. Repeat this process with the screen for your birth date. Your D-Scanner will give you a novice Digimon.

  Press the "B" button to bring up the menu. Press the "A" button to scroll through the menu choices and make your selection. You can select "Training," "My Cage," "Items," "User Data," "Link System," and "Sound."

  Access "Training" to train your Digimon. The bar code scanner will power on. Scan a bar cord or wave your hand over the back of the scanner. Your Digimon will attack randomly five times and gain Digimon Power (DP). One point for a double shot, two for a triple and four for a Super Hit. The Digimon will perform better in battle with a higher DP rating.

  Open "My Cage" to change your active Digimon character. All of the Digimon you have caught or scanned will be in these cages, and you can scroll through them using "A" and select with "B."

  Bring up the "Items" screen to see the things you have collected. You can keep up to three of each item. Some of the items will be utilized in battle, others outside of battle. Again, "A" scrolls through your list and "B" selects the item.

  View your "User Data" to see how you are doing as a tamer. You cannot acquire higher level Digimon until you have won a certain number of battles. You can only use rookie or hybrid Digimon if you have not won more than 14 battles. 24 wins will allow you to train Champion-level monsters. 39 or more victories unlock the Ultimate level, and you need more than 40 for Mega monsters.

  Select the "Link System" option to bring up the D-Scanner. This will let you scan bar codes on objects or cards. When you scan, it may give you an item, a new Digimon, or a random battle. Hold the scanner over the bar code in question until the unit beeps. If you are not holding the scanner properly, the screen will display an explosion or an error message. Try again, or try another barcode.

  Turn the sound on or off using the "Sound" option on your device menu.
