Checklist of Disney Pixar Diecast Cars

Disney Pixar's seventh feature film "Cars" was released in 2006 and was lauded by both critics and audiences. The merchandising that accompanies the film includes diecast and vinyl cars in a variety of sizes, plush characters, remote control vehicles and an assortment of books and craft items. Due to the popularity of the "Cars" movie and merchandise, Disney/Pixar was scheduled to release a sequel, "Cars 2," in June 2011. "Cars" diecast vehicles come in a variety of styles designed to delight collectors and kids alike.
  1. Original Movie Diecasts

    • This set features the characters from the original "Cars" movie. Each vehicle is equipped as it is in the film, so Mater is brown and in poor repair and Lightning McQueen has stickers for headlights. Diecast vehicles from the original movie include Lightning McQueen, Mater, Sally, Flo, Ramone, Doc Hudson and several other main characters. Original diecast "Cars" are easy to find; most big box and toy stores carry the original versions along with matching accessories and carrying cases. This set also has a "Mac" truck storage and display case.

    Pixar Movie Characters

    • Diecast cars representing main characters from other popular Pixar movies are available at select retail locations and through Disney stores and theme parks. These versions are sold in "Cars" movie-themed packaging and are detailed to look like the original Pixar character. Look for a monster truck version of Sully from "Monsters Inc.," lightning bug vehicles from "A Bug's Life" and a wood-sided jeep complete with cowboy hat to represent Woody from "Toy Story." These versions can be seen on film in the "bloopers" reel that follows the movie "Cars" on DVD.

    Dressed-up Cars

    • This set of diecast vehicles feature the stars of the original "Cars" movie in new "outfits." Look for Mater in shiny metallic blue, his original color before rust took over. You can see Lightning McQueen in both red and blue and Ramone in a rainbow of hues. Ramone is the proprietor of the Radiator Springs paint shop, so there are many versions of Ramone available, each with a special paint scheme. Dressed-up versions are slightly more difficult to find than the other types of Disney Pixar diecast cars. They are only released in limited versions, usually to coincide with a DVD release or theme park promotion. These can be found at toy retailers and at the Disney theme parks.
