How to Loop Yo-Yos

Yo-yos were first patented in 1866 by two Cincinnati men, James L. Haven and Charles Hettrick. This toy, which is a take on children's spinning tops, is now played with by both children and adults. Since its invention, different versions of the yo-yo have been patented and sold, mostly so that different tricks could be executed. Yo-yos are constructed with an axle between two discs. A string allows the user to "throw" and "catch" the yo-yo, enabling him to do sometimes very advanced tricks.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the yo-yo string in half.

    • 2

Open up the string at the fold and place the fold over the axle so that the yo-yo is balancing on the string. Optionally, you may wind the yo-yo string over the axle one more time. This is preferable for most beginners.

    • 3

Pinch the string about 4inches from the axle and begin twisting it. Twist it until the entire string is twisted and the yo-yo is securely on the axle.

    • 4

Make a knot at the end of the string so that the two sides do not twist apart.
